"Jodi offered back in 2010 to work night shift for one of our
employees on maternity leave. What should have been only three
months turned into seven months because the employee decided not to
return. Jodi decided to stay on night shift until techs were hired
and trained," said nominators Jackie Cade and Jacki Angel. "Jodi
provides our patients with great care and does it with a great
attitude. Jodi turned a very stressful situation for the lab into a
manageable solution." Jackson began working in the laboratory at
ALMH nearly eight years ago. A native of New Minden, she completed
schooling at University of Illinois at Springfield, where she earned
a bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science. She is also
certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
She describes her job as studying the science of the body. "We
analyze blood and body fluids in all areas of the lab: blood bank,
chemistry, hematology, microbiology and immunology. We also must
confirm the accuracy of our tests by performing routine maintenance
on our analyzers and doing quality control."
Jackson says she finds her job rewarding and loves what she does.
"Throughout the day you will uncover the cause and track the
progress of disease. The information you provide the physician will
help guide the treatment of the patient, thereby helping improve
their quality of life," she said.

Jodi added that co-workers at ALMH become like family and that
she's proud to be a part of the team.
"I can't say enough good things about this hospital," she said.
"At ALMH we provide patient-centered care. I believe we are able to
do this successfully because while we are serving others, the
hospital is making sure we are also being cared for."
ALMH employs more than 290 in a wide variety of job functions. A
different employee is honored each month for their commitment to
creating great patient experiences, getting great results, and
making ALMH a great place to work.
