!Local Cub Scouts come together for pioneer camp

Knots, tie-offs and woodworking skills were used to construct the supporting poles and climbing rope on the monkey bridge.

 

Each group created a banner using symbols and pictures that told something about the members. Groups used the banners as their identification as they moved from station to station.

Scouts prepare to shoot watermelons with bows and arrows. Courtney Raymond and other volunteers instructed the Scouts in safety measures before they were allowed to load the bow.

After their safety lesson, Scouts took aim and shot five arrows at round watermelons positioned across a stretch of grass.

 

Most watermelons were untouched, but some received mortal hits from the amateur archers.

 

 

 

Then, after learning safety, the Scouts got to shoot BB rifles. The Scouts readied themselves in alternating positions, to prevent shooters from being too close and causing harm. It also allowed them to take turns and to stop and observe others.

 

 

 

 

Yard games took advantage of the wide-open spaces at Memorial Park. Rotating from station to station gave each group a turn at the games.
