[June 27, 2011]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Maggie Daley's doctor says the former Chicago first lady has spent the past week in the hospital.

Dr. Steven Rosen told the Chicago Tribune that Daley had been scheduled to leave Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Sunday. It wasn't immediately clear if she had been released late Sunday.

Rosen declined to say why the 67-year-old Daley was in the hospital, citing privacy. The former first lady has battled metastatic breast cancer since 2002.

The wife of former Mayor Richard Daley was admitted to the hospital multiple times this spring. Once she was experiencing flu-like symptoms, including nausea and dehydration. She also had surgery to replace a metal rod in her right leg, which was weakened by cancer treatment.

Rahm Emanuel was sworn in last month to replace Richard Daley as mayor.
