A tour of the sewage treatment facility

To some, the thought of a sewage treatment facility may instantly conjure images of something that is less than clean, and there is no denying that when waste comes into the plant, it isn't pretty. But inside the facility, you will not find a cleaner, more organized or more smoothly run operation.

Inside the fabrication shop at the plant, there is a place for everything and everything is in its place.

 

Foreman Dave Presswood wraps up some paperwork before calling it a day.

 

Equipment is now being moved into the newly completed storage facility at the plant.

The building will also be used to store large pipe and fittings such as seen in the background of this shot.

 

In another building, parts are neatly packaged and stored for quick access when something breaks down at the plant.

In the maintenance garage, this 1999 vehicle looks showroom new, a testament to how well the city assets are cared for.

 

 

These boxes, numbered and named, contain parts for each of the city's lift stations. When a station fails, workers grab the boxes and go in a matter of minutes.
