Blago's hairstyle would be fine in federal prison

[June 29, 2011]  SPRINGFIELD (AP) -- The hair that inspired a David Letterman Top 10 list and a line of "Bleep'n Golden" shampoo may survive a trip to prison.

A federal prison manual says there's no limit on hair length "as long as it is neat and clean," so former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich may be able to keep his famous locks if he's incarcerated.

A jury convicted Blagojevich Monday on 17 charges in his corruption retrial. He's almost certain to appeal.

The Bloomington Pantagraph reports Tuesday a manual from the Gilmer Federal Prison in West Virginia mirrors the policy of other federal prisons and specifies there's no restriction on hair length.

Blagojevich's hair has been a punch line since his arrest, and a Chicago-area company marketed hair products under the name "BLAGO It's Bleep'n Golden!"
