Bernadette Peters to take 'Follies' to Broadway

[June 30, 2011]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Bernadette Peters and the rest of the stars of the Kennedy Center production of "Follies" will be moving north to Broadway.

InsuranceProducers said Wednesday that Peters will join Jan Maxwell, Danny Burstein and Ron Raines when the show starts previews Aug. 7 at the Marquis Theatre. It closes Sunday in Washington and officially opens Sept. 12 in New York.

The musical, featuring a book by James Goldman and a score by Stephen Sondheim, will have a 28-piece orchestra and a 41-person cast, with additional casting to be announced at a future date.

This production is the show's second Broadway revival. It will be directed by Eric Schaeffer and will feature musical direction by James Moore and choreography by Warren Carlyle.
