[June 30, 2011]  Nine married couples -- with 523 years of marriage between them -- renewed their wedding vows at The Christian Village this week. Chaplain Ryan Edgecombe presided over the special wedding vow renewal service.

All residents of The Christian Village, the couples ranged from seven to 71 years of marriage. Special music and cake were part of the celebration attended by family members, friends, residents and staff.

"This is a very encouraging time when we can honor the couples among us who have lived out a time-tested, faithful and godly love to their spouse and family," Edgecombe noted. "They've been in it for the 'the long haul,' so to speak."

Couples participating were Lyle and Dorcas Hall, Donald and Mary Anne Harmon, Lewis and Ilah Horton, Harold and Roberta Krusemark, Bruce and Kitty McIntire, Fred and Josephine Vodak, Doris and Derald Reinhart, Joe and Maxine Seggelke, and Jean and Norma Rankin.

The Christian Village offers a range of senior living options including garden homes, senior apartments, assisted living, skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitation and the Haven Center Memory Care Unit.

The Christian Village is among the 14 senior living communities of Christian Homes Inc., the second-largest not-for-profit long-term health-care provider in the U.S., with campuses in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and Missouri.
