Tyler Clingerman (Plainfield, Ind.) became the first-ever three-peat
national champion for LC after wining the men's 3-meter diving
competition. Tyler, who has signed with the University of
Louisville, will begin competing on the 1-meter to go for his fourth
consecutive national title. Maggie Rea (Parsons, Kan.) took home
gold in the women's 500 freestyle, just edging out her competition
by less than one-tenth of a second. Maggie is the first female
national champion for LC coach Jake Sexton. Maggie also set a new
school record in the 500 free, eclipsing the previous record that
has stood for 12 years.
The Lynx also had three more school-record swims. Sandra
Stopczynska (Warsaw, Poland) set a new team record in the women's 50
free. Also, the women's 200 freestyle relay (Sandra Stopczynska,
Warsaw, Poland; Ashlyn Schleder, Lincoln; Sarah Ochoa, Tinley
Park; Samantha Schneider, Pinckneyville) set a new record, crushing
the previous mark by over 5 seconds. The men's 200 free relay
(Milton Alberto-Requejo, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Bryce Bohman,
Moline; Richard Russell, Douglasville, Ga.; Gabe Cury, Novo Hamburgo,
Brazil) also set a new team record in the event and took home second

Coach Sexton said: "The team is swimming with a ton of energy,
pride and heart. Truly, this has been some of the most fun that
I have ever had at a meet that I can remember in a long
time. I'm extremely anxious that the next couple days of
competition will bring."
