There's
a place for your unwanted items (no clothes, please) from cleaning
out closets, attics and garage during the cold weather. The annual
rummage sale by the Humane Society of Logan County will be on
Saturday, March 12, at the Lincoln Woman's Club Building. Drop-off
will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Dawn Gorman is chairing this
fundraising event, which has been very successful in the past. |
The
Hartsburg-Emden FFA is having a consignment auction on Saturday, March
19, beginning at 10 a.m. The auction site is the Orvil Township Shed, located by
the Hartsburg FS Plant. No non-working appliances, pets, livestock, overhead gas
tanks, tires or hazardous materials will be accepted. For more information,

NIc@CoersDiesel.com, or contact Ivan Rademaker at 376-3153.
The
public community garden meeting is Thursday, March 10, at 7 p.m. at the

An
exhibition of political cartoons on Abraham Lincoln is at the
Lincoln Heritage Museum, 300 Keokuk St., beginning today through
April 5. The public is invited to this exhibition focusing on images
of Abraham Lincoln through the sometimes scathing wit of the
political cartoonists of his time. The exhibition is sponsored by
the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. The museum's hours
are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1-4 p.m. on Saturdays.
Logan
County's Education Cooperation Committee will visit with seniors
at The Oasis this week to offer information and answer questions
regarding the proposed 1 percent sales tax increase to benefit
school facilities.
On Thursday, March 10, committee members will drop in during the
corned beef and cabbage potluck to distribute informational fliers
to all the guests.
The committee then plans to return to the senior center on
Tuesday, March 15, to conduct a discussion on the subject and field
questions from attendees.
Currently those from the committee who are slated to be at the
meeting are District 27 Superintendent Mary Ahillen, David Hepler
and Roger Matson.
While this meeting will be targeted at addressing the concerns of
the senior population in Logan County, anyone with an interest in
the referendum is encouraged to attend.
The committee kicked off a series of meetings this month,
beginning with an open forum hosted by the Lincoln/Logan County
Chamber of Commerce on March 3. Future meetings are being planned in
the individual school districts.
