[March 08, 2011]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Major League Baseball has fired three executives as part of the restructuring that put Joe Torre in charge of baseball operations.

The commissioner's office said Monday that vice president of umpiring Mike Port, vice president of operations and administration Ed Burns and senior specialist of on-field operations Darryl Hamilton have been let go.

Hamilton is a former major league player and Port a former big league general manager.

Torre was hired Feb. 26 by Commissioner Bud Selig as executive vice president of baseball operations.
