Lady Eagles take 4th at state tournament

[March 08, 2011]  CHICAGO -- The Zion Lutheran School Lady Eagles from Lincoln won fourth place in the Lutheran Sports Association State Basketball Tournament of Champions held last weekend in the Chicago area.

Team members participating in the tournament were Faith Smith, Alysa Cox, Caitlin Williams, Lizzie Tripplett, Grace Walters, Lexie Groves, Rachel Lockenour, Lizzie Ford, Anna Walters, Anna Sielaff, Hailie Williams and Brooklyn Hermes.

Faith Smith and Grace Walters were chosen for the state all-tournament team.

The team was coached by Todd Koehler and Bob Cox.

The Lady Eagles finished their season with a record of 27-5.

Opening round at Arlington Heights:
ZLS 32, Roselle-Trinity Lutheran 14

Saturday

Championship quarterfinals at Roselle:
ZLS 30, Palatine-Immanuel Lutheran 29

Championship semifinals at Arlington Heights:
Lombard-St. John's 42, ZLS 29

Zion scorers: Grace Walters 19, Faith Smith 4, Hailie Williams 3,  Lexie Groves 2, Alysa Cox 1
