Habitat for Humanity house blessing March 20

[March 10, 2011]  Brandy Mullenbach will soon become a homeowner and will move into the home she and her family have spent many hours helping to rehab. They have worked alongside the numerous people who volunteered to take this house down to a shell and then rebuild it into a Habitat for Humanity home for Brandy. As a new homeowner, Brandy will join the ranks of those who make payments on their mortgages and support the community by paying real estate taxes.

Habitat for Humanity will dedicate the home at 503 N. Adams St. in Lincoln on March 20 at 3 p.m. The community is invited to attend the dedication and see the transformation to this house.

Keith Snyder, mayor of Lincoln, and Bob Chamberlain, president of the Logan County affiliate of Habitat, will give the welcome and opening remarks. A few remarks on the construction of the home will be made by Steve Allen and Michael Kubat, the co-foremen for the build. The Rev. Wallace Reifsteck will dedicate and bless the home, and Michael Eads will lead the "Litany of Hope."

Brandy will be presented a Habitat book by her mentor, Stacie Wachtel, and a Bible by Leonard Krusemark. The books are gifts from the Logan County Habitat affiliate. She will receive the key to her home from Michael Kubat. John Sutton, who spent many hours working on the home, will accompany the singing of "Bless This House" on his guitar.

Following the dedication, the community is invited to tour the home and enjoy refreshments provided by Warren Wendlandt, the chef at Lincoln College, with the help of Brandy's friends in the Lincoln College food preparation service.
