Over 17 years ago, C-EL
teachers Mrs. Susan Foran and Mrs. Myrna Leith came up with the idea
to bring agriculture learning into the school with a fun atmosphere.
The idea turned into a full-fledged program named Hog Wild Happenings,
teaching students
about agriculture and related fields. There is a reading program
that ends with someone kissing a baby pig, guest speakers, contests
in writing, artwork and coloring, and many other agriculture-related
topics and information being taught in the classrooms by the
teachers.
Now, 17 years later C-EL has
brought back the agriculture program. Mrs. Foran, in her last year
teaching at C-EL, and volunteers have formed committees at
school to help bring Hog Wild Happenings to the students once again.
The kickoff was earlier in the month and the program is now in full force
with things going on all over the school.
This week will be the final week of Hog Wild Happenings, culminating in a
teacher having to kiss a pig at an assembly on Friday.
