Although the number of actual
plungers was down somewhat this year over last, the 2011 Polar
Plunge was nonetheless a huge success.
Last year the fundraiser brought in just over $33,000, but this year
the total came to a whopping $45,682.
The Walmart plungers raised $11,335, which was matched with an
additional $11,000 donation from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. making them
the No. 1 group in the category for 15-plus members. Second
place went to Team Monsanto with $7,987 and third went to Team Curry
with $6,722.

The Walmart team was this year's honorary
group of plungers and the first to dive into the 40-degree water at Lincoln
Lakes.

First in, first out, the group looks a little
soggy now... |

...and perhaps a little shocked over what 40-degree water actually feels like.

This isn't Hawaii, but City Clerk Denise Martinek with husband Vic following behind still wades in and out
with the individuals group. |

County board member Jan Schumacher was part of
the group called Chillin 4 A Cause. The group raised $1,120. |
