In all, 124 people took the plunge at Saturday's Polar Plunge for Special Olympics. Among them was Donna Jean Nelson, who won accolades and the plunger trophy for being the oldest plunger at the event. At age 70 Nelson dove into the water Saturday morning to help raise money for a very worthy cause.

At the Knights of Columbus Hall Saturday, there were a lot of happy, excited people who waited there to be bused out to Lincoln Lakes. There were also dozens of volunteers, selling 50-50, T-shirts and sweatshirts, taking registrations, and collecting and tracking money.

After the plunge many returned to the hall to spend time eating hot dogs and chili courtesy of Wendy's and visiting with old friends and new.

A little clowning around before the plunge.

For those who were… well... the shirt says it all.

Volunteers contribute a great deal to this effort each year.

The Walmart butterflies: sexy before, soggy after.

After the plunge a hot dog really hits the spot… and the shirt!

Several stayed around for some good food and fun at the after-party.

Guests line up to fill their plates with "fun food." Hot dogs, chips, chili and cookies were on the menu.
