Spring? Yeah, right: More snow for Northeast

[March 23, 2011]  ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Winter isn't done with some areas of the Northeast just yet.

A springtime storm could bring nearly a foot of snow to areas of northern Pennsylvania and upstate New York.

The National Weather Service says some communities in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains can expect more than 11 inches by the time the storm moves out.

Scores of schools are closed or delaying opening across a large swath of northeastern Pennsylvania, upstate New York and northwest New Jersey because of the weather.

Up to 6 inches of snow has already fallen in parts of western New York and up to a foot more could fall upstate over the next day.

Snow fell on the New York City area early Wednesday morning but is expected to turn to rain.
