Lincoln city fire and rescue calls

March 26

10:14 p.m. -- The Lincoln Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 718 N. Kankakee.

The fire started on the second floor. The residents were notified of the fire by a working smoke detector. The residents of the house attempted to extinguish the fire, but they were unable to and left the house.

Lincoln Fire Department personnel removed the box springs that were on fire. There was minimal amount of damage to the structure, but there was smoke throughout the house. The four residents of the house were not displaced because of the fire and are able to occupy the house.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental. However the fire is still under investigation.

  • 6:27 a.m. -- Assisted EMS in a call to the 1500 block of Seventh Street.

  • 9 a.m. -- Off-site training -- hazmat preplan at FS.

  • 12:31 p.m. -- Assisted EMS in a call to South Postville Drive.

  • 3:30 p.m. -- Assisted EMS in a call to the 500 block of North Jefferson Street.

  • 6:51 p.m. -- Assisted EMS in a call to the 800 block of North Jackson Street.
