Lynx win in lopsided fashion at Illinois College

[March 31, 2011]  JACKSONVILLE -- The Lincoln College offense outproduced Illinois College in an 11-5 game on Wednesday. The Lynx traveled to Jacksonville for their fourth game in three days and were able to come away with a lopsided victory.

Aaron Ward (Chicago) was awarded with the win after his 4 1/3 innings of work. Ward gave up three runs on four hits. Austin Kilgore (Detroit, Mich.) and Steven Sotiropoulos (Belleville) came in from the bullpen and finished the final 4 2/3 innings without allowing a hit.

The Lynx offense detonated for 11 runs on 17 hits. Among the leaders were Kenny May (Belleville), 2-4, three steals; Andy Mosier (Lake Orion, Mich.), 3-3, double, RBI; Derek Steiner (Belleville), 3-5, two doubles, four RBIs; and Milton Alvira (Orlando, Fla.) 2-3, triple, RBI. Brett Freund (Festus, Mo.), Josh Cook (Yorkville) and Miles Quintal (O’Fallon) had two hits each.

The Lynx (7-10, 3-1 MWAC) will travel to East Peoria to take on Illinois Central College at 11 a.m. Saturday for a two-game set.
