A group of eight teachers attended two
Saturday workshops at the Montessori Children's House of Lincoln,
coming from the Illinois communities of Manhattan and Mahomet. The
teachers learned
new methods the same way their students learn: by being involved and
being part of the process.

Montessori is not a traditional method of
teaching or learning. Classes are small, and teachers and students
interact in a more casual manner than in public school
classrooms. While critics abound, the public school system has, over
time, adopted some of the Montessori methods. |
