National Train Day

Saturday morning, Main Street Lincoln director Wanda Lee Rohlfs and the organization's president, Roger Matson, were on hand at the Amtrak station for a meet and greet of passengers in honor of National Train Day.

There were no trains running on Saturday due to rail construction, but would-be passengers were transported by bus to the next train stop.

Inside the station, Rohlfs and Matson visited with passengers, promoted the downtown businesses and talked about area attractions. They also gave out free information and goodie bags that included, among other things, a Main Street Saver Card.

In addition to all this, visitors were treated to sweets from Mel-O-Cream.

With high-speed rail improvements going on in Lincoln, this will be remembered as the Train Day with no trains.
