[May 11, 2011]  Students at New Holland-Middletown are collecting pet food, supplies and loose change to help support the Humane Society of Logan County, as part of a service learning project sponsored every year at NH-M. Please bring in your donations to the school library by Friday, May 13. Representatives will be at the awards assembly to collect donations. If you have questions regarding this project, please contact Diane Bicknell at 445-2656.

The successful applicants were Heidi Moore, a Lincoln resident and student at SIU Carbondale; Andrew Brown, a Lincoln resident and student at Bradley University; Emily Berglin, a Lincoln resident and student at SIU Carbondale; and Matthew P. Whalen, a Lincoln resident and student at Western Illinois University. Each student will have a check for $500 issued in their name to their educational institution.

The annual scholarships are awarded to a Logan County resident who is either a high school senior or a current college student who is pursuing a degree in the law enforcement field.

Lend your support to the Lincoln Community High School basketball cheerleading squad by supporting Culver's Night on Monday, May 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. Cheerleaders and their families will be on hand at the Lincoln Culver's, 2530 Woodlawn, as they raise funds for summer cheer camp in July. Culver's will donate 10 percent of the 5-8 p.m. receipts from May 16. Your support is greatly appreciated.

DaVita Lincoln Dialysis Clinic was the first DaVita Dialysis Clinic and the second clinic in the entire state of Illinois to receive the 5-Diamond Patient Safety Award from The Renal Network. The Lincoln clinic received the award last week.

The 5-Diamond Patient Safety Award is a program started by The Renal Network in 2010 and is a highly recognized award in the dialysis community. DaVita Lincoln Dialysis was awarded this honor because of consistently high quality index scores and successful patient and staff safety programs.
