[May 17, 2011]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Drew Houser threw a no-hitter against Springfield Calvary at Mount Pulaski on Monday as the Hilltoppers won 2-1.

Houser did it all, striking out 13. And he scored the winning run on senior Cole Becker's seventh-inning hit. Houser also had two stolen bases.

Ty Litterly had two hits and two stolen bases for the Hilltoppers.

Altogether, the Hilltoppers had six stolen bases.

Mount Pulaski plays Hartsburg on Thursday in the semifinals.

There haven't been a lot of no-hitters in Mount Pulaski history.

John West threw one in 1943. West became a longtime Mount Pulaski Grade School basketball, baseball and track coach and an industrial arts teacher.

Loren Dittus had a no-hitter in 1947. He became a Mount Pulaski High School basketball and baseball coach and history teacher before moving on to Decatur schools as basketball coach and athletic director.

And now Drew Houser can be added to the list.
