Hartem alumni banquet June 11

[May 17, 2011]  HARTSBURG -- The 84th annual alumni banquet of Hartsburg-Emden High School will begin at 6:30 p.m. on June 11 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Lincoln. The event will include dinner catered by the K.C. Hall, recognitions, awards and fellowship.

Invitations to the banquet will be sent out in mid-May, with RSVP by June 3. Anyone who did not receive an invitation but would like to attend the banquet may send a request via email to [e-mail].

Anniversary classes being honored this year are 1931, 1936, 1941, 1946, 1951, 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2006, along with the seniors of 2011.

The winner of the "Wall of Fame" award will be selected and announced at the banquet. This year's award will be in the category of "distinguished alumni." Please mail nomination letters to Kent Leesman, 2215 1100th Ave., Hartsburg, IL 62643.

Due to the rising costs of the alumni banquet, the association will be accepting donations to help out with the cost of the event and to continue funding the Alumni Scholarship. Donations are payable to the Hartem Alumni Association and may be sent to Greg Phillips, P.O. Box 283, Emden, IL 62635.

2011 officers of the alumni association are Kent Leesman, president; Geoff Phillips, vice president; Lori Lessen, secretary; Greg Phillips, treasurer; and Matt and Brooke Ballance, corresponding secretaries.
