St. Clara's Manor, Habitat pork chop dinner, Y Cow Bingo and Karilyn Walsh in Close Up

[May 24, 2011]  St. Clara's Manor is having a Memorial Day celebration on Friday, May 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They invite all local vets and family for a cookout, music and 50-50 drawing. St. Clara's is located at 200 Fifth St. in Lincoln.


On Saturday, May 28, the Habitat for Humanity of Logan County will have a rib-eye and pork chop sandwich fundraiser at the IGA parking lot from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity, which is now building home 16 in Lincoln.


You are invited to come to the Y and put some play in your family's day on Saturday, June 11, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. YMCA Cow Bingo is a free event and will be outside at the Y Activity Center on Wyatt Avenue. Activities include outdoor games, contests, archery demo, bagpipe player, face painting, bouncer-climber-slide, decorating farm animal cookies, play stations, area attractions, free hot dog lunch and lots of fun! Come taste samples of YMCA staff chili recipes! The cow comes out on the field at 2 p.m. and she is so BIG! Come and put some MOO fun in your day!

The Cow Bingo game is optional, but for a chance to win a $750 cash prize, just pick up your $15 bingo game ticket today at the YMCA office. Raffle tickets will also be sold for some amazing baskets!

Logan County Paramedics, Lincoln Fire Department fire house, Highline Limousine Service (also providing limo ride to McDonald's for our top 10 child ticket sellers), bagpiper Joe Smithers and archery with Dave Duvall will all be on hand.

Karilyn Walsh has been named May Senior-of-the-Month at Mount Pulaski High School. Karilyn is the daughter of Pat and Jo Ellen Walsh of Mount Pulaski.

Karilyn has been a member of student council, Drama Club, Spirit Squad and FCCLA. She was a member of the Lady Toppers volleyball team and was a cheerleader. She was also involved in the Big Wednesday program at her church and helped with Vacation Bible School.

Karilyn plans to attend the Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School in Normal.

The Senior-of-the-Month program is sponsored by Mount Pulaski Pharmacy and Johnson's Food Center of Mount Pulaski. Monthly winners receive $100 savings bonds and are eligible to compete for the $1,000 Senior-of-the-Year award.
