Starting at noon until 2 p.m., free airplane rides for young people
ages 8-17 will be given through the Young Eagles program. Youngsters
must be accompanied by an adult to sign a permission slip. From 2
to 4 p.m. there will be World War II news briefs, re-enactments,
ceremonies, recognition and remembrance by, with and for veterans.
The Railsplitter Antique Auto Club cars begin rolling in about 3
p.m.
Other activities will include World War II and remote-controlled
aircraft, special guests, surprise performances and musical
entertainment. These events are free to watch.
From 4 to 6 p.m. there will be a fly-in and drive-in barbecue.
Watch planes come in, join the chow line, sit in the mess tent and
eat side-by-side with war heroes, pilots, friends and neighbors. The
cost is $5 for a barbecued pork sandwich, chips and drink.
From 6 to 9 p.m. there will be a USO-style hangar dance with the
best music of the '40s and '50s for your listening and dancing
pleasure by the fabulous Jim Markum Swing Band
