Lincoln toddler dies from blunt force trauma

[May 24, 2011]  An autopsy was performed Monday on the 17-month-old Lincoln child struck by a car Saturday. The autopsy findings showed the youth died of blunt force trauma to the head, according to Bob Thomas, Logan County coroner.

InsuranceThomas said Trysten Rives was pronounced dead at 5:53 p.m. Saturday at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Chief Ken Greenslate of the Lincoln Police Department had previously reported that city police were notified at 5:34 p.m. of a vehicle striking a child in the 1100 block of Pulaski Street. By the time police arrived, the child had already been transported from the scene by the family.

Further details have not been released pending the police investigation.
