[May 25, 2011]  Community Action is now taking applications for Head Start and Early Head Start for the 2011-2012 school year. Community Action Head Start and Early Head Start is a federally funded preschool program. Head Start is available to income-eligible children and children ages 3-5 with disabilities. Early Head Start is available to pregnant moms, infants and toddlers in a home-based program.

Community Action Head Start recognizes that parents are the first and most important teachers of their children and welcomes parents as partners in the Head Start and Early Head Start experience.

Head Start is designed to provide a variety of opportunities that help children develop socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally in an age-appropriate manner. Head Start children receive nutritionally balanced meals, medical and dental examinations as well as screenings for hearing, vision and speech. In addition, parents are assisted in their efforts to improve the quality of life for themselves and their children.

Applications can be found online at www.capcil.org or by calling 217-732-2159 or 1-877-588-7189.

Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois serves the low-income and senior populations of six Illinois counties. For more information, visit www.capcil.org.
