Lincoln Jaycees, Lincoln Woman's Club, Culver's and Hayden Zimmer in Close Up

[May 27, 2011]  The Lincoln Jaycees rescheduled their Route 66 sale for this Saturday, May 28. It will be postponed again if it rains. The sale will be at 325 S. Chicago St. from 8 a.m. to noon.


The Lincoln Woman's Club met this week.

During the season-closing luncheon meeting at Lincoln College, Norma Muck was recognized for 50 years of membership in the club.

Honored for 25 years membership were Ruth Sloot, Pat Lockenour and Norma Smith.

Sue Beaver was installed president for the 2011-2012 year by Jo Crow, 17th District president. Arlene Rush, co-president, also was on hand for the installation ceremony.

Other new officers are Barbara Dahm, first vice president; Mary Cooper, second vice president; Diane Osborn, recording secretary; Pat Purseglove, treasurer; Marianna Lessen, corresponding secretary; and Lou Ann Bleess, parliamentarian. New members of the board of directors are Jane Redding and Debra Schweitzer.

It was announced Lincoln Woman's Club members again will provide ice cream and cake for sale during the summer band concerts at Latham Park. The dates are June 12, 19, 26 and July 3.

Club members also are co-sponsoring a hanging flower basket for the Main Street Lincoln project for downtown Lincoln.

A memorial service was conducted for deceased club members Evelyn Jenkins, Marie Logan, Jean McCue and Eloise Park.

New members JoAnn Toft and Jan Van Bibber were welcomed.

Logan County Bank is pleased to announce the 2010-2011 Lincoln Community High School Senior of the Year, Hayden Zimmer of Lincoln. He was awarded a $1,500 scholarship sponsored by the bank. He plans to attend Trine University and study civil engineering. Congratulations, Hayden.
