[October 31, 2011]  Logan County Coroner Robert Thomas announced that Jordan D. DeClerck, 22, of Taylorville, was pronounced dead at the scene of a motor vehicle accident at 3:24 a.m. Sunday. DeClerck was involved in a single-vehicle collision in the 800 block of Route 121.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office, Mount Pulaski Fire Department and Illinois State Police were called to the scene.

The crash investigation is being handled by the Illinois State Police.

The state police narrative report said that a blue 2002 Jeep was traveling on Route 121 northbound approximately 695 feet south of 900th Street. For an unknown reason the Jeep crossed over the yellow dividing line, across the southbound lane and entered the ditch on the west side of Route 121. The Jeep then crossed back over the southbound and northbound lanes and entered the ditch on the eastbound side of the roadway. The Jeep hit the embankment with the front bumper, causing the vehicle to flip end over end along the embankment for approximately 50 feet. The driver was ejected through the sunroof and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Logan County coroner's office.

An autopsy will be performed in Springfield.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
