The Red Lions finish their regular season with an 18-12 record and
are now headed to the National Christian College Athletic
Association national championship in Kissimmee, Fla., where they
have the No. 6 seed. LCU was led by Lincoln High School graduate
Emily Sheley with 14 kills, one assist and five blocks. Jamie
McFadden, another Lincoln High school graduate, had 10 kills, 14
digs and three blocks. Another standout was senior Lydia Bunting,
who recorded 39 assists.
McFadden was honored after the game when the seniors were
recognized. For her career at LCU, she is in the top three in career
kill attempts and in career kills. She has been named as an NCCAA
all-American her first three years and if honored again at the
nationals, will become only the second four-time all-American in
school history.
The other senior honored was Bunting, who in her career is in the
top five in assists and in assist attempts. She was named second
team all-American in her junior year and is awaiting the
all-American announcement to be made at the national tournament.
