[November 05, 2011]  NEW YORK (AP) -- The dollar is rising against most other currencies after the U.S. government said the economy added jobs last month and that job growth was stronger in the previous two months than first reported.

The Labor Department said 80,000 jobs were added in October. The unemployment rate fell to 9 percent from 9.1 percent. It also said that 102,000 more jobs were added in August and September than first reported.

Friday's report helped ease fears of a new recession.

In morning trading Friday, the euro fell to $1.3729 from $1.3834 late Thursday. The British pound fell to $1.5970 from $1.6041.

The dollar rose to 78.18 Japanese yen from 78.09 yen and to 0.8889 Swiss franc from 0.8784 Swiss franc.
