[November 08, 2011]  HARTSBURG -- On Saturday, Hartsburg will be the place for a "battle of the bands" fundraiser. Promoter Jonathon Thomas, a junior at Hartsburg-Emden High School, has put together a lineup of talented bands that will battle it out, starting at 2 p.m. at the Hartsburg American Legion, 105 E. Front St. They will compete in front of a panel of judges for a cash prize.

Since Jonathon is a musician himself, the idea of a battle of the bands was an easy choice for a fundraiser.

He put together this event in hopes of raising money and awareness for Rapha House. Their website, www.raphahouse.org, describes their mission: "Fighting child trafficking and sexual exploitation by bringing hope and freedom through Rapha House." Proceeds from the band event will be donated to this charity.

Participating bands are The Red 5, Devin Clemons, Through the Eyes of Giant, Love/Lust, As Told by Ginger, Upon a Broken Throne and The Sacred Eternal. The bands are a diverse mix, offering something for everyone.

Tickets are available at the door for $11, with more information available by calling Jonathon at 217-314-0827.
