Merck, Cisco, Foot Locker are big market movers

[November 11, 2011]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

Kohl's Corp., up $1.07 at $55.36

The department store operator's third-quarter profit rose thanks to strong demand for its Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony lines.

Merck & Co. Inc., up $1.18 at $34.97

The drugmaker will raise its quarterly dividend by 4 cents to 42 cents per share this quarter, its first increase since 2004.

Viacom Inc., up $2.55 at $51.83

The media company said its earnings tripled and revenue rose 22 percent on the success of movie "Transformers: Dark of the Moon."

Foot Locker Inc., up $1.09 at $22.18

A Sterne Agee analyst reiterated his "Buy" rating on the sports retailer's stock saying it will likely overcome the NBA lockout.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc., down $26.13 at $40.89

The seller of single-serve coffee products posted fiscal fourth-quarter revenue that fell short of what analysts were expecting.

PriceSmart Inc., down $7.14 at $68.71

The wholesale club operator said that its fourth-quarter profit fell nearly 4 percent, as higher costs hurt its bottom line.

Cisco Systems Inc., up $1 at $18.61

The maker of computer networking gear, which is in the midst of a turnaround, posted earnings that beat Wall Street estimates.

AMC Networks Inc., up $1.89 at $34.42

The company, which operates cable channels We TV and IFC, said its third-quarter net income rose 58 percent from a year ago.
