[November 10, 2011]  The Veterans Day service in Lincoln will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars home on Fifth Street.

The invocation and benediction will be given by Ed Lloyd.

The speaker for the program will be Michelle Ramlow, commander of the VFW in Lincoln and a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy.

The program will include a flag presentation. There will also be a laying of the wreath by the auxiliary's presidents. The honor guard and firing squad will salute all veterans, with taps following.

Ham and beans will be served at the VFW following the ceremonies.

A news release about the event said in conclusion: "Let's all turn out for the ceremonies and let our veterans know that we care about our freedom that the veterans -- past and present -- have helped to preserve. Remember that freedom is not free."
