LC wrestling results

[November 14, 2011]  MUSKEGON, Mich. -- The No. 6-ranked Lincoln College wrestling team traveled to Muskegon, Mich., to compete in the Muskegon Duals and the Ben McMullin Open. On Friday the team got their dual meet season started with victories over Olivet College and Niagara Community College. The results of the dual meets are as follows:

Lincoln College 44, Olivet 6

• 125 -- Prentice Thomas won by fall over Henry McKeown in 5:43.

• 133 -- Derek McIntosh won by fall over Brandon Dunbar in 1:30.

• 141 -- Ethan Raley won by major decision over Justin Holm 13-2.

• 149 -- Mark Marianovich won by decision over Kyle Witgen 5-3.

• 157 -- Darnell Thomas won by forfeit.

• 165 -- Andre Foster won by forfeit.

• 174 -- Kyle Harris lost by fall to Mickey Emenaiser in 4:30.

• 184 -- Mike Johnson won by major decision over Jake Blackmer 12-1.

• 197 -- Matt Dwyer won by decision over Andy Ottenwess 7-3.

• Hwt -- West Cathcart won by fall over Tony Giordano in :41.

Lincoln College 41, Niagara C.C. 9

• 125 -- Prentice Thomas won by technical fall over Dwann Hall 15-0.

• 133 -- Derek McIntosh won by decision over Caleb Green 9-2.

• 141 -- Mike Togher won by decision over Ryan Baer 9-4.

• 149 -- Mark Marianovich won by fall over Irvin Buck in :22.

• 157 -- Kameron James won by fall over Steve Litbler in 4:22.

• 165 -- Andre Foster lost by disqualification to Kris Schimek.

• 174 -- Colt Adye won by fall over David Lyons in :51.

• 184 -- Mike Johnson won by fall over Joe Serio in 3:55.

• 197 -- Matt Dwyer won by fall over Karvin Cox in 1:07.

• Hwt -- West Cathcart lost by decision to Lance Moore 9-5.

On Saturday, 19 wrestlers from the Lincoln College team competed in the Ben McMullin Open at Muskegon C.C. It was a very productive day for the Lynx as they won championships in five of the 10 weight classes, and 10 of the 19 wrestlers placed in the top four of the tournament.

Winners for the Lynx:

• 125 -- No. 5 Prentice Thomas defeated Collin Lesko of Alma 6-1.

• 141 -- No. 12 Ethan Raley won by major decision over Steven Ruppert of Muskegon 12-2.

• 149 -- No. 1 Mark Marianovich defeated No. 3 Sean Turner of Muskegon 4-3.

• 184 -- No. 2 Mike Johnson won by major decision over Thomas Bolday of Muskegon 13-5.

• 197 -- No.7 Matt Dwyer won by fall over Mathew Henry of Muskegon, 5:55.

Others who placed for the Lynx:

• 133 -- Derek McIntosh, fourth.

• 141 -- Mike Togher, third.

• 157 -- Steve Burling, third.

• 174 -- Colt Adye, fourth.

• Hwt -- West Cathcart, second.

Next weekend the team travels to St. Charles, Mo., to compete in the Lindenwood Open. This will be a good test for the team and an opportunity to compete against some Division I wrestlers.
