[November 14, 2011]  A special board meeting of the West Lincoln-Broadwell school board on Nov. 7 acknowledged the teachers' choice and approval of UnitedHealthcare River Valley as their insurance carrier for medical, group term life, and accidental death and dismemberment coverage. Superintendent Bailey Climer commended the teachers on their choice of company, which was one of four taken under consideration. Moriearty Insurance is the local agent.

HardwareClimer reviewed his process in determining the tax levy for the 2012-2013 school year. He noted it was early, but since it was completed, he wanted to share it with board members for review. He reminded the board that Logan County is tax-capped and the district cannot exceed 5 percent of the previous year's levy. The document will be available for public review at the district office until the levy hearing at 7:15 p.m., Dec. 21.

The annual holiday event for board members, teachers, staff and guests is being planned for Dec. 9, and details should be available soon. Confirmation is pending from a venue and restaurant in Mason City.

Scott Goodman was appointed as an interim member of the RIF committee, to stand in for Don Papirnik at a committee meeting with teachers at 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The next monthly board meeting is Nov. 21.
