It's that time of year... There's music
in the air. At least that was the case at the Culver's restaurant on
Monday night. It was "Central Elementary School Night" at the
restaurant on Lincoln's west side. A percentage of sales will be
given to the school, so family members and friends attended in large
numbers. There were probably some surprised diners who were not
aware of the significance of the night, but they soon learned why
the house was packed.
The answer came when several second- through fifth-grade students
gave something back to customers -- a mini-concert. Second-grade
students opened the show with a few songs for fall and Thanksgiving,
complete with flying turkeys. The older students came together as a
strong voice and took the show home with a variety of songs they
performed under the guidance of Mrs. Connor, District 27 music
director.

Second-grade students, directed by
their teacher, Mrs. Dobihal, warmed up with the first song and got
into the performance as the songs progressed.

To get listeners in the mood for the
upcoming holiday, second-grade students brought out the tom turkeys. |

Even seasoned performers are due a
light moment. The students got over their stage fright about the
time the last song was over, and they decided it was lots of fun.

Third-, fourth- and fifth-grade
students from Central Elementary School came out in large numbers to
perform for Culver's customers on Monday night. They were assisted
by Mrs. Connor, District 27 music director. |
