[November 18, 2011]  A lot is happening at Park Meadows Baptist Church in Lincoln. Dr. S.M. Davis, pastor of the church for 36 1/2 years and one of the longest serving pastors in the history of Logan County, is stepping down as pastor. Dr. Tony Bazen, a veteran of 21 years in the ministry and an assistant pastor at Park Meadows Baptist for two years, will assume the duties of pastor of the church.

Dr. Thomas E. Bryant is the associate pastor of the church at 800 Memorial Park Road.

Pastor Davis plans to continue in the ministry, representing the church as a staff evangelist. He is internationally known for his teachings on the family, and his sermons are widely distributed through CDs and DVDs.

During the tenure of Pastor Davis, many changes have taken place. Under his leadership, Park Meadows Baptist, formerly State Street Baptist Church, purchased 12 1/2 acres of land, and the church was built debt-free through the giving of the congregation. Later, a Ministry Center, consisting of classrooms, a large foyer and a double-floor gymnasium, was also built debt-free.

Using what was learned from Pastor Davis, many other churches across the nation have also built facilities debt-free.

Pastor Davis is a well-known conference speaker and counselor to pastors and families. His ministry -- Solve Family Problems -- has placed tens of thousands of CDs and DVDs in the homes of America. Countless families have been helped through this ministry. Recently, arrangements have been made to place 80 of his key messages, such as the series on anger, in every prison in Illinois.

During the morning service on Sunday, Pastor Davis will lay hands on Pastor Bazen and pass on the mantle of authority and leadership as Moses laid hands on Joshua.

Following the service, a free turkey dinner will be provided for all in attendance. The entire community of Lincoln and Logan County is invited to join Park Meadows Baptist Church for the occasion.
