[November 23, 2011]  Lincoln Fire Department fire and rescue reports for Wednesday, Nov. 23:

Nov. 22

  • 9:07 a.m. -- Assisted EMS in a call to the 500 block of North College Street.

  • 12:32 p.m. -- Called to the 700 block of South Postville for an incident involving excessive heat with scorch burns but no ignition.

  • 1:39 p.m. -- Called for general cleanup after a vehicle accident on Lincoln Parkway.

  • 2:51 p.m. -- Explosion (no fire) in the 100 block of Half Moon. According to fire Chief Mark Miller, this incident involved a transformer. The explosion was of a minor nature and apparently caused by a squirrel. Miller said Ameren arrived at the scene very quickly, and the problem was corrected without incident.

  • 3:43 p.m. -- Assisted EMS in a call to the 800 block of Short Eighth Street.

  • 4:45 p.m. -- Assisted EMS in a call to the 200 block of North Logan Street.

  • 6:22 p.m. -- Assisted EMS in a call to the 1500 block of Fifth Street.
