Maintenance of the station and apparatus

Apparatus maintenance for the month of October has been focused on repairs to a ruptured water tank in Engine 5104.

The tank began leaking and upon inspection a 2 foot crack on the end of the tank was found. The tank was unable to stay in service and immediate service was needed.

A tank repair company came to Lincoln and poly welded the water tank.

Upon investigating causes several items were found that may have contributed to the failure. These items have been resolved.

All apparatus are due for annual pump and ground ladder testing.

Winter preparation on boat 5120 has been completed. 5100 and 5106 had additional emergency lighting installed by members of the department in efforts to save costs.

Training Activities

Training for the month of September included, Probationary fire fighter Kern attending classes in fire suppression engine and truck company operations. While conducting fire prevention activities at the schools Lieutenants updated emergency action plans of the schools for the safe school program.
