 Accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected across the ridges and peaks of higher elevations. Chances of snow will also be possible in the Tennessee Valley as the low over the region deepens and temperatures become low enough to support snow development. Heavy rainfall in the mountains and foothills could result in flooding of streams, creeks and low-lying locations. Meanwhile, lighter precipitation will be possible in the Ohio Valley and the
lower Great Lakes as the northern front extends through the lower Great Lakes and into the Northeast.
In the West, precipitation in the Pacific Northwest will lighten as the cold front over the region moves inland through the Northwest. More moderate snow showers are expected in the
northern Intermountain West and the northern Rockies, while light to moderate rain showers continue in areas of northern California near the Oregon border. Elsewhere, expect fog development again Monday night into Tuesday morning across the California valleys.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday have ranged from a morning low of
minus 11 degrees at West Yellowstone, Mont., to a high of 86 degrees at Inverness, Fla.
