Kodak, Yahoo, United Continental are market movers

[October 04, 2011]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Monday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

Eastman Kodak Co., up 56 cents at $1.34

The photography pioneer denied rumors that it would file for bankruptcy. The company said it is trying to turn itself around.

Wolverine World Wide Inc., up $1.37 at $34.62

The footwear and clothing company, which owns the Hush Puppies and Patagonia brands, reported a rise in third-quarter profit.

Alcatel-Lucent, down 41 cents at $2.42

A Nomura analyst said that he expects revenue for telecommunication equipment makers, such as Alcatel-Lucent, to drop.

United Continental Holdings Inc., down $2.27 at $17.11

A Citi analyst downgraded the airline to "Hold" from "Buy" saying he expects airline revenue to fall due to the weak economy.

Nasdaq

Heartware International Inc., up $3.05 at $67.46

A study of the company's implantable heart device confirmed a high survival rate for patients with late-stage heart failure.

Pharmaceutical Product Development Inc., up $6.62 at $32.28

The company, which provides contract drug development and discovery services, agreed to be taken private for $3.9 billion in cash.

Focus Media Holding Ltd., down 50 cents at $16.33

The Chinese digital media company said that it is increasing its U.S. share repurchase program to $650 million from $450 million.

Yahoo Inc., up 36 cents at $13.53

The CEO of Chinese Internet company Alibaba said during a speech that he would be interested in buying the Internet company.
