[October 04, 2011]  CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. (AP) -- Police say a pickup truck collided with an Amish horse-drawn buggy in Maryland, killing a 12-year-old girl in the buggy.

The crash occurred Saturday night in St. Mary's County.

The St. Mary's County sheriff's office says the buggy moved into the intersection during a green light but was still in the crossing when the light turned red.

Deputies say the truck's driver didn't notice the buggy, which had three people inside. The resulting collision turned the buggy on its side.

One of the occupants, 12-year-old Saloma Kathleen Stoltzfus, died of her injuries. The other two occupants were treated and released.

The investigation continues, and the truck driver hasn't been charged.
