The first set was closely contested and saw Millikin hold a
two-point advantage most of the way. The Big Blue stretched their
lead to four at 18-14. After a Lincoln timeout, the Lady Lynx came
roaring back behind a strong serving run from sophomore Jana Wright
to tie the score at 20-20. Millikin managed to get the serve back
and score one to go up 22-20, but LC sided out and freshman Jenna
Luck served the remaining four points to seal the 25-22 victory.
Lincoln held on to the momentum in set two to build an
early lead, then hold off an MU comeback attempt and win it 25-17.
Set three was all Lincoln College, as they rolled to a
25-13 win to earn the match victory and run their season record to
14-7.

LC coach Mark Tippett commented:
"Our team played well in all aspects of the game this evening. We
improved our serving consistency a great deal, which put the
pressure on Millikin to side-out. In set one we did not take
advantage of the gaps in their defense very well in the early going,
but once we started making smarter choices, we were able to gain
control of the volley more often and put MU on the defensive. In
sets two and three we turned up our intensity on defense and played
very well at the net, which is something we have stressed in
practice lately. Overall I am very pleased with where we are at as
we move into the second half the season."
LC will travel to Peoria on Thursday for a match against Robert
Morris University. This match was added to the schedule this week
due to a recent opening in the RMU schedule.
