[October 07, 2011]  Lincoln College men's soccer clinched the regular-season Region 24 title with another shutout victory versus Lincoln Land on Thursday in Springfield. The win puts Lincoln 7-0 in the region and was their fifth shutout in a row, which is a new school record for consecutive shutouts. This will secure home-field advantage for the Lynx for the Region 24 tournament.

HardwareThe game was a heated contest, with both teams getting quality chances in the first half, but neither could capitalize, and at half the score was 0-0.

At the beginning of the second half, Lincoln found the first and game-winning goal in the third minute of the half, when Ruben Gaytan intercepted a pass and bent the ball around the keeper for an unassisted goal. Lincoln would finalize the match with a second goal with a little over 20 minutes left, when Adrien Sathler beat a player on the outside and crossed a ball back to the penalty spot, where Edwin Moalosi was wide open and finished the ball past the keeper.

This brings the Lynx to an overall record of 11-3.

LC’s next game is played in South Holland on Monday versus 11-4 South Suburban.
