Thursday afternoon, Aaron Schock, U.S. congressman representing the 18th Congressional District of Illinois, spent some time taking a tour of the refurbished Scully Building in downtown Lincoln.

The Scully Building was victim to a massive fire in 2001. Afterward it sat empty for about seven years. Patrick and April Doolin purchased the building, and with the help of Doolin's father, Morey, and his brother, Greg, who was the architect for the building, the Doolins have brought the building back to life.

Schock was in Lincoln to talk about his bill Creating American Prosperity through Preservation, the CAPP Act, H.R. 2479.

Climbing the marble staircase with its original banisters, Schock admires the work done in the burned-out shell of a building.

The architectural design of the upstairs formal board room is greatly admired by Schock.

Schock and Doolin talk about plans that include a future rooftop deck.

They then head back downstairs for a brief press conference.

April Doolin joins in on a discussion about the extensive work done on the Scully Building.
