[October 20, 2011]  The Lincoln & Logan County Development Partnership, chamber of commerce and Lincoln mayor are seeking a meeting with Gov. Quinn to discuss his proposal to close Logan Correctional Center.

On Oct. 11, Sen. Bomke's office hand-delivered a letter signed by him, Sen. Bill Brady, Rep. Rich Brauer and Rep. Bill Mitchell. The letter asks the governor to have a meeting with the four legislators, Michael Maniscalco of the development partnership, Andi Hake of the chamber of commerce, Mayor Keith Snyder and local business leader Donna Boyd.

The group hopes that they can have the opportunity to discuss the impact the closure may have on the communities of Logan County and the reasons why the governor should keep the Logan Correctional Center open. The group has been awaiting the confirmation of a date but is hopeful that the governor will be willing to meet soon.
