Tate Sloan, sixth grade, had to suck a red candy with a straw and drop it into a cup, then return to his line so fellow team players could take turns repeating the effort. The winning team was the first to move all the red candies to the cup.

LJHS teacher Sherrie Sparrow emceed the kickoff assembly and demonstrated the games to be played. Coaches and sponsors introduced players and members of organizations and clubs.

Sixth-grader Mark Rahn stacked red cups into a pyramid. The next team player had to stack the cups, and the next players repeated the moves until all team members had taken a turn.

LJHS students filled the bleachers Friday afternoon for a kickoff assembly for Red Ribbon Week. School colors of orange and black were obvious Friday, but this week red will be the color to wear.
