Lincoln defeats Danville in playoff game

[October 24, 2011]  Lincoln College men's soccer (15-3) defeated Danville 3-0 in the first round of playoffs on Saturday.

The game was very physical, with Danville receiving 38 fouls and six yellow cards and Lincoln had 13 fouls and one yellow card.

The Lynx were able to get on the scoreboard when Edwin Moalosi curled a ball in outside of the 18-yard box.

Lincoln followed this goal with another a few minutes later when Moalosi got behind the defense and slotted a ball to a wide-open Gerdson Lubin for a wide-open goal. The score would remain 2-0 at the half.

Lincoln got their third goal when Jaime Hernandez sent a through ball to Lubin for his second of the day.

In goal, Mario Alfario was credited for the shutout victory.

The Lynx take on Parkland College Wednesday in the semifinals of region play. This is a rematch of last season's semifinal. The game will be played at Lincoln at 2 p.m.
