The Lincoln College volleyball
team picked up its first win of the 2011 season with a straight-sets
victory over visiting Illinois Valley Community College. LC (1-1)
defeated IVCC 25-23, 25-22, 25-17.

LC coach Mark Tippett commented:
"We started this match looking a lot like we did in our first
match a few days ago. We were slow on defense, missed serves and got
down early. I believe we were behind 15-20 when things started to
turn around. We picked up our intensity on defense and our passers
started to focus in, which got our offense going. Coming from behind
to win the first set was a much-needed psychological boost.

"In set two we looked more relaxed and aggressive on offense. We
let a big lead slip away late in the set, but our players kept their
composure and held on for the win, which is a very good sign.
"We still have a lot to work on, but tonight it was clear we are
headed in the right direction."
Lincoln will travel to Oakton Community College on Saturday for
three matches.
